2 loaves french bread, or more if needed
6 eggs
3 teaspoons honey
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
I cup milk
1 cup half and half
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 tablespoons butter, melted
I cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
I cup pecans, coarsely chopped
4 tablespoons honey
Liberally grease 2 13x9-inch baking dishes with
shortening.
Cut the french bread into I inch slices, at a diagonal.
For serving 10 guests, you will need
20slices. Set aside.
Combine the eggs, 3 teaspoons honey, ground cinnamon,
milk, half and half and vanilla
extract in a large mixing bowl. Beat until frothy. Dip
each bread slice in the egg mixture,
coating both sides. Arrange the bread in the prepared
baking dishes, cover with plastic
wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Remove the pans from the refrigerator about 1/2 hour
before baking.
Drizzle the bread with the melted butter, sprinkle with
the brown sugar and pecans, and
then drizzle honey over top.
Bake at 375 degrees for about 20-30 minutes. The bread
will puff up and be golden
brown. Serve immediately with maple syrup.
Make ahead dish.
